How to Prepare for Cold, Flu (& COVID-19) Season
Hey girl, I got your call. Yes there are some great ways to prepare for Cold & Flu (and Covid) Season! Here is my quick run down. Pick these up next time your at the store (or just click the link). Praying for a healthy season for you and the kiddos. Oh and don’t forget the hot chocolate and marshmallows... they make for the cutest pics. Off to kid pick up. I hope you find these helpful!
Wow you guys seriously the BEST. As a nurse practitioner I use soooo much hand sanitizer and with the added dryness of winter my hands and dry and cracked constantly. But DOVE did it!!!
8 hours of moisture
61% alcohol level meeting CDC guidelines
And 3 sense available Shea Butter and Warm Vanilla; Lavender and Chamomile, and original sent.
2. Tea
It sounds so unmedical?! I know, but seriously I am a coffee girl through and through. Today it’s a coffee drive through day. Are you a Starbucks or your local spot kinda girl? Me, honestly, I take what I can get.
BUT, in the winter a tea with antioxidants and honey are a staple. Honey has proven benefits for mild cough relief (mild sister MILD, if you have asthma, COPD or anything like this honey won’t help you... I love you but it won’t)
I am talking about that mild cough with a little postnasal drip. Honey in your tea can help with comfort. It’s not a cure, but it can get you through the day
Mint and lemon teas are my favorite. But I try to sneak some green tea occasionally for those great powerful antioxidants. (They fight the bad guys)
Can I be honest here, there is soooo much incredible research supporting green tea consumption daily for its great superhero capabilities… I’ve tried to be her, and my coffee girl wins 80% of the time. So girl, this is no shame. Just trying to reach for the things that help us as often as we can this winter.
3. Vitamins
Multivitamin; NOT gummies y’all the nutritional content is NOT the same. Preferably a chewable for you the kiddos. I know, I hear you yes, something is better than nothing. But I wouldn’t be your friend if I didn’t tell you the best recommendation. The vitamin market is crazy saturated. I mean we literally have entire isles in the grocery store dedicated to vitamins. Here is a quick list of accessible, affordable, and overall good quality. (I know there are people who dive into every detail on how to pick the best vitamin it would take you an hour to listen to and still walk away unclear, bc I have listened to them and felt the same way)
But ya’ll we got stuff to do so here is some recommendations you can count on:
For you:
For the kiddos:
4. Extra Immune Support I know it’s not a multivitamin, but I just want to give you extra resources for the winter.
Airborne Immune Support: For 12 years old and older.
Kidz Emergen-C: For ages 4 -12 years old.
5. Flu shot is the best way to prevent the flu
I know I know, people will ask does it work? The myth (NOT fact) that you can get the flu from the flu shot. I have seen/heard it all. I will tell you as a medical provider it is the best way to prevent the flu or sever flu side effects. PERIOD. This come from over a decade of medical experience seeing, diagnosing, and admitting sick kids to the hospital. The vaccinated population always does better by enlarge. Ok, ty please hold my purse while I get off my soap box.. oops almost spilled my coffee. As your friend if I didn’t tell you the best recommendation, I wouldn’t be your friend.
I feel like wearing a mask is always the unspoken disclaimer it’s like the person who wasn’t on the invite list but knows to show up.. yup that one 😊 Follow your local recommendations, and protect yourself and others.
Ok any other questions? Girl enjoy the rest of your day I got to make it to kid pick up 😊
*The not so fine print use all medications as directed by manufacture, do not use if you are allergic to medication, and please use under the supervision of a medical provider. Thanks, friend!
